A local boutique is a high-end clothing shop offering contemporary brands in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It specializes in denim, and appeals to women aged 35 to 55, who tend to invest in more expensive pieces of clothing. 

CALL TO ACTION

The boutique owner approached us when sales and traffic for the boutique hit an all-time low. At the time, the owner was managing all of the shop’s social media herself, primarily showcasing images of products inside the boutique.

APPROACH

Realizing the incredible potential of visual content, we created an inspirational mood board for Instagram and Facebook. We pulled and posted lifestyle photos from fashion bloggers wearing products the boutique carried, educated the audience about unique designer brands from the shop, tied in Portsmouth images to keep content local, and created a strictly black and white presence to make the account stand out. We signed each post “XO, [insert name]” to give a personal and friendly approach to the high-end clothing that, to some, may be read as intimidating or overpriced. We realized that this particular boutique’s audience was most active on Facebook, so we spent more focused time on this platform, which then increased traffic. 

RESULT

In six months, we took the boutique’s Instagram account from 124 followers to over 700, averaging 100 new followers a month. We connected with social media influencers and local businesses, and created relationships with them. The result was an elevated social media presence that reflects the upscale style of what ONYX offers.
